Learning Through The Arts
Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music created Learning Through The Arts (LTTA) in 1994. Professional artists from all disciplines are paired with school teachers and students to create new learning partnerships that use the arts to teach core curriculum subjects. This enhances and broadens learning as well as suits a wide variety of learning styles. Life skills are developed through the arts. This includes cooperation, self-direction, self-esteem, and creativity.
The program involves professional development of teachers and artists, writing of lesson plans, curriculum development, in-class delivery and continuous assessment. Helve's contracts all took place in Calgary.
