Composition

Helve is a classically trained composer whose collection of works ranges from solo instrumental works to small and large ensemble as well as electro acoustic pieces. She is one of the founding members of the Edmonton Composers’ Concert Society (also known as Tonus Vivus Society and now known as New Music Edmonton). In the summer of 1985, at the instigation of Violet Archer, several of her students namely Helve, Reinhard Berg, Ron Hannah, Gordon Nicholson, and Jerry Ozipko, together formed this society to promote the performance of their own as well as other contemporary works.
