In the past few years, I have had 4 children take lessons with Helve, from starting piano lessons with my youngest, to helping my oldest prepare to play her practical Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 10 exam and write the related theory exams. The trip for piano lessons is a 3 hour drive (one way) and we make the drive every two weeks, but have found the drive to be very worthwhile. Helve is professional, kind and patient when working with my children, who all have very different temperaments. Helve’s extensive music knowledge and experience enable her to modify teaching techniques to enhance learning and make lessons positive. One of my children, who had been taking piano lessons for 3 years with another teacher, said that she learned more after 3 lessons with Helve than the entire previous year. Helve is enthusiastic and has helped my children develop their love of music. I would highly recommend Helve for piano students at any level.

Helve Sastok is an exceptionally talented and dynamic piano teacher who teaches to the individual student. Her program is well-organized and executed. She provides support, motivation, and opportunities to grow both within and outside of her studio. The fine example that she sets as an accomplished musician in her own right is an inspiration to her students to pursue their own musical interests. Our teenage son has benefited immensely from her guidance in piano, theory, and composition studies.
